Burt Davy has
been designing and building furniture and other wood works for more than a decade. A building contractor in another life, he understands that function is the foundation of any useful piece of
furniture. It's how that function is interwoven with a sense of harmony and balance that makes his furniture outstanding.

I’m often asked where I get my ideas for the furniture I build. They come from many places: buildings and structures, museums, art galleries, the web. I’ve never intentionally copied anything, but I’ll see a line, a shape, some geometric overlays that strike my fancy. I keep a sketchbook that I record my “original” ideas in. Over time, I’ll look back and change or modify these drawings. Ideas beget ideas. Then comes the engineering: how can this be built?
